Impromptu entertaining can be fun, but it can also be nerve-racking. Things will be easier all round, for host, hostess and guest, if parties are planned ahead: 2 weeks is enough time for your own preparations but 3-4 weeks notice is more likely to find the right day. For a larger party you will want atleast 4 weeks, to be sure of fitting everything in.
